BARISHAL, Dec 8: The bodies of three people, who went missing after a speedboat capsized in the Kirtankhola River in the district two days back, were recovered on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as the driver of the speedboat Al Amin, 23, son of Md Siddique, hailed from Veduria Uttar Char area in Sadar Upazila of Bhola; and its two passengers Md Imran Hossain Imon, 29, son of Md Shahabuddin of Dhania area in Bhola Sadar, and Md Russell Amin, 24, son of Azgar Ali Hawlader, from Newapara area under Kalapara Upazila in Patuakhali District.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barishal Sadar Naval Police Station Sanatan Chandra Sarker said that locals spotted the bodies of the three floating in the river on Sunday morning and informed the River Police.
Being informed, River Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies, the OC added.
Earlier, a speedboat was capsized in the Kirtankhola River in the afternoon of December 5 last. A passenger, named Jalis Mahmud, 50, died on the spot, while four people went missing.
Of them, one Sajal Das, 30, son of Dulal Das, a resident of Rahmatpur area under Babuganj Upazila in Barishal, is still missing in the river.
