Former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari and 163 others were sued over attempted to murder and assault during a clash on Chattogram court premises on November 26.

Enamul Haque, a businessman from Khatungonj, filed a complaint with the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique on Sunday

Advocate Mohammad Mainuddin, a lawyer of the plaintiff, said the complaint filed against 164 named individuals, including Chinmoy, and 400 to 500 unidentified peoples.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique took the case into cognisance, he said.

According to the complaint, on November 26, Enamul came to the registrar's office for a land registration. Clashes broke out between Chinmoy's followers and police following the denial of Chinmoy’s bail plea in a sedition case.

During that time, Enamul was physically assaulted by the supporters of Chinmoy. After recovering from his injuries, he filed the case.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Assistant Public Prosecutor Saiful Islam Alif was hacked to death on the court premises during the clash.  A total of five cases have been filed in connection with the lawyer murder and violence.

Earlier, on October 31, a BNP leader filed a case against Chinmoy, also the spokesperson for Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote, and 18 others for allegedly disrespecting the country’s national flag during a Hindu community rally in New Market area of the port city on October 25.

Detectives arrested Chinmoy near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on November 25 in this connection. The next day, Chinmoy was produced before a Chattogram court and the court denied his bail plea and sent him to jail.

The clashes erupted following the denial of Chinmoy's bail petition in the sedition case.
