Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon, Vice Chairman of BNP, has claimed that India has prioritized its relationship with ousted Sheikh Hasina at the expense of 180 million people of Bangladesh.
He made these remarks during a meeting organized by the BNP at Louhajang upazila in Munshiganj on Saturday.
Dr. Ripon alleged that Awami League, with Indian support, is engaging in activities that undermine communal harmony in Bangladesh and attempting to destabilize the interim government. He called on grassroots leaders and activists to unite against such actions, urging resistance against what he termed "oppressive forces."
He also stated that the BNP is taking a firm stand against corruption and internal misconduct within its ranks. "Those who joined the party for personal gain during favorable times will no longer find a place in BNP," he said. "Anyone engaging in exploitation or misuse of the BNP's name will face strict action."
Dr. Ripon expressed confidence that the fall of the current government on August 5 marked the beginning of a new era of democracy in Bangladesh. He emphasized the need to establish good governance and protect the rights of all citizens, regardless of religion or background.
He also announced plans to bring BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman back to Bangladesh to lead the party's efforts to restore constitutional rights through fair elections. "The people of Bangladesh are united and will not bow to external forces. A new government, elected by the people, will soon replace the current regime," he declared.
The meeting was attended by local BNP leaders, activists, and locals. Earlier in the day, party members participated in a spirited rally featuring banners and slogans before joining the discussion.
Grassroots leaders also addressed the gathering, expressing their commitment to achieving the BNP's goals through unity and collective action.
