BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday urged party leaders and activists to correct themselves and fight against extortion, corruption and immoral activities to retain people's confidence.

Speaking virtually at Faridpur Divisional workshop organised by BNP Training Affair Committee on "31-point state structure reform proposal and the public engagement" at Faridpur Sadar Upazila Complex he said, "We have to correct ourselves first and then we will tell others to amend themselves. Otherwise, there's no point of talking about eliminating immoral activities and extortion,"
Tarique said, "Our nation is united to end political violence and create a new situation where no family will be destroyed due to differences in opinion."

He said that, long-standing vendetta in the country's politics has not only harmed political parties but has dragged the entire nation back.

"We want to create an environment in the country, where all the problems will solve through compromise respecting differences in opinion," Tarique said.

He said, our responsible behavior will make BNP better organised and stronger to break the cycle of revenge in the political arena and create a humane, tolerant and democratic environment.

Tarique replied to questions raised by participants.

When Tarique's attention was drawn to immoral activities and extortion by some party leaders, and asked whether BNP would forming a committee to take action against them, Tarique, said. " Correct yourselves. We may have some bad people in our party, we have taken action against many of them."

He said BNP is taking  organisational action whenever it receives any complaint against anyone.

"The key is to correct yourselves," he said.

Tarique urged the party rank and file to refrain from doing anything that undermines the public confidence in BNP.

He said BNP wants to restore stability  so that  problems can be addressed properly.
