Shaheed Smriti Foundation General Secretary Md Sarjis Alam said on Saturday that students are ready to take to the streets again to prevent any attempt to rehabilitate the killers of mass people during the July-August uprising.
Sarjis said, "Before August 5, we stood united, ready to sacrifice our lives. Today, our commitment to securing justice for the perpetrators and thwarting any prospect of their rehabilitation remains undiminished."
He made the remarks while speaking at an event organised to distribute financial assistance to the families of July Uprising martyrs in Chattogram.
The event distributed Tk 5 lakh to each of the 105 families of martyrs in the Chattogram division. Many family members were seen breaking down in tears as Sarjis consoled them during the event.
Sarjis said, "Despite the horrific nature of their crimes, the names of these murderers are once again being discussed in Bangladesh. Their political rights are being debated, even though they are nothing but pathological killers. For the past 16 years, they have continuously harmed the people of Bangladesh in countless ways."
"If Hasina were not a pathological killer, she would not have committed 2,000 murders. If she had any compassion for human life, she would not have taken so many lives," he said.
Addressing all those mourning the loss of their loved ones in the uprising, Sarjis said, "We must remain steadfast. Our voices will not be silenced until justice for these killings is achieved in Bangladesh."
He added, "Many innocent lives were lost in July and August. I pledge my unwavering support to you all. Should anyone dare to serve as an agent for killer (Sheikh Hasina), we will stand united and confront them."
