6 injured as 2 juvenile groups clash in Madaripur

At least 20 people, including six police personnel, were injured when a clash erupted over establishing supremacy in the region in Madaripur district on Friday night.

The incident occurred at around 8:00pm in the Old Trawler Ghat area under Sadar upazila in the district. 

Police have detained 10 individuals from the scene in connection with the incident.   

One injured person has been sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as his condition is unstable. 

Police and locals said that there had been a long-standing dispute between Nirob Bapari of Launch Ghat area and Nayem Bhuya of West Rast area. Following this incident, the supporters of the two groups engaged in a conflict with local weapons on Friday night. Later, police and army personnel went to stop the clash. During the clash, at least 20 people, including police personnel, were injured.

Md Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Madaripur Model Police Station, confirmed the matter.
