The bus service under Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will run from Gazipur to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka from December 16.
Ehsanul Haque, senior secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, shared this information after visiting the BRT project at Shibabari BRT station in Gazipur on Saturday.
Two air-conditioned buses are running experimentally on the Shibabari-Airport route and will formally launch on December 16
The senior secretary said that foot-over bridges at each station are inadequate, and 10 additional foot-over bridges will be constructed between the airport and Gazipur soon. As the 98 per cent of the project completed, full service is expected to be launched by June.
BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam said two air-conditioned buses had been operating between Gazipur and the airport.
These buses will now run between Shibabari and Gulistan in Dhaka. After the December 16 inauguration, 10 buses will operate initially, and the number will be increased based on its demand.
