Bangladesh youth women's hockey team started their Women's Hockey Junior Asia Cup campaign with a losing note as they suffered a massive 19-0 goals defeat to strong China in their opening group A match held in Muscat, Oman on Saturday.
China began to dominate the play in the very beginning of the match and took 6-0 lead in the first quarter. The continued onslaught and added four more goals in the second quarter.
The third quarter also saw the same scenario as China added another four goals in the third quarter by maintaining their domination in the pitch.
In the final quarter, China added another five goals to seal a massive win in the one-sided affairs.
Bangladesh, who have been placed in Group A along with China, defending champions India, Thailand and Malaysia, will play their second group match against India tomorrow (Sunday) and meet Thailand on December 10.
The girls in red and green will play their last group match against Malaysia on December 11.
Five highest-ranked teams will qualify for the 2025 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup which will be held next year in Chile. —BSS
