Tigresses slip series losing two off two T20i matches

Ireland Women triumphed over Bangladesh Women by 47 runs in the second T20i match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday claiming an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. A cohesive performance by the visitors ensured their dominance throughout the game.

Opting to bat first, Ireland posted a competitive 134 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Contributions came from Amy Hunter (23 off 18), Orla Prendergast (32 off 30) and captain Laura Delany, who top-scored with a brisk 35 off 26. Leah Paul (16) and Gaby Lewis (14) also added valuable runs.

Bangladesh's bowlers put in a decent effort, with Nahida Akter leading the attack, claiming two for 25. Jahanara Alam, making her return to the side, took one for 22, while Jannatul Ferdus and Fahima Khatun picked up a wicket each.

Chasing 135, Bangladesh's batting faltered under pressure. Sharmin Akhter Supta was the lone bright spot with 38 off 43 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to deliver. 

Top-order batters Dilara Akter (10), Sobhana Mostary (1) and captain Nigar Sultana Joty (6) departed cheaply leaving Bangladesh in trouble. 

Shorna Akter chipped in with 20, but her effort was not enough to steady the innings as the hosts were bundled out for just 88 in 16.5 overs.

Prendergast notched three wicket for 22, while Arlene Kelly and Delany provided excellent support claiming two wickets each.
The final T20i, a dead rubber, will be played on December 9 at the same venue, where Bangladesh will look to restore some pride and Ireland will aim for a clean sweep.
