Police have recovered the body of a young man from a paddy field at Taltoli upazila in Barguna district.
The recovery was made on Thursday afternoon from Sonakata union's Laupara village. However, the cause of death remains unclear and authorities are conducting further investigations.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 24, son of Md. Awal Shikdar and a resident of Laupara.
According to locals, the body was first discovered by the victim's younger brother, Md. Isa Shikdar, while inspecting the field. Isa informed the locals, who promptly alerted the police.
According to the victim's family members, Abdur Rahman left home after breakfast on Thursday morning, only to be found dead later in the field. Witnesses noted unusual black discoloration under his nails and around his eyes and ears, raising suspicions.
Taltoli Police Station inspector (investigation) stated that authorities received reports of the body around 2:30 PM and promptly responded to the scene. After conducting an initial investigation, the body was sent to Barguna General Hospital for an autopsy.
The circumstances surrounding the death incident remain under investigation as police work to determine the cause.
