MOE deputy secy killed in Barishal road accident

A deputy secretary of Education Ministry (Private University-1) was killed in a tragic road accident at Muladi upazila in Barishal on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred near Pyadarhat area around 4:45 PM, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahirul Alam of Muladi Police Station.  

Dr. Mohammad Farhad Hossain, a Deputy Secretary in the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education (Private University-1), was son of Mawlana Abdul Kader from Char Lakshmipur village in Muladi Sadar upazila.

According to eyewitnesses, Farhad was traveling from Mirganj Ferry Terminal to Muladi Sadar in a three-wheeler. The vehicle lost control and overturned when the driver suddenly braked to avoid hitting a stray dog near Hawladar Bridge.  The Deputy Secretary, seated on the side of the three-wheeler that overturned, sustained severe head injuries. 

Meanwhile, Zainul Abedin, a member of the organizing committee for Nandir Bazar religious gathering, revealed that Dr. Farhad was scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest. He was en route to Char Lakshmipur to participate in the program.  

He was rushed to Muladi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.  

OC Zahirul Alam stated that other passengers and the driver sustained minor injuries and did not require extensive medical attention.
