Five more deaths were reported from dengue while 562 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever across the country in 24 hours till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest fatalities, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease now rose to 522 this year.
Among the new deaths, three were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC), while one was in Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations) and one in Chattogram.
Of the new infected patients, 123 were admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) while 136 were hospitalised in DSCC. Since January 1, 2024, a total of 95,632 dengue cases have been reported.
A total of 503 people were released from hospitals after treatment.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), there were 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
