A housewife reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan in her room at Lalmohan upazila in Bhola district over family dispute on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Hasina Begum, 40, wife of Md Monir, a resident of Pangasia area under Paschim Char Umed in the upazila.
It was learnt that neighbors rescued Hasina in hanging condition from her room and took her to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Md Salahuddin, brother of the deceased, said, " Hasin's husband lives in Dhaka due to his job purpose. But, there had been a long standing dispute between Hasina and her mother-in-law's family over family matter. Following this incident, Hasina might have committed suicide on Friday as the house was vacant at that time."
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Bhola Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Md Sirazjul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lalmohan Police Station.
An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard and the reason behind the death would be known after getting autopsy report, the OC added.
