Youth dies being hit by train in Noakhali

A young man died after being struck by a train at Sonapur upazila in Noakhali on Friday.

The accident occurred around 10 PM at Ahmadia School area in the upazila.  

The victim, Delwar Hossain, 34, was son of Zahir Uddin and a resident of Baten Master's Bari in Char Clark Union of Subarnachar upazila.  

According to locals, the Dhaka-bound Upakul Express train had departed from Dhaka earlier in the afternoon and was traveling toward Noakhali. The incident occurred when the train was en route from Maijdi Station to Sonapur, near the Ahmadia School area. Delwar was struck by the train, resulting in the severing of his leg and his death at the scene.  

Sonapur Police Outpost in charge sub-inspector Md. Nasir confirmed the incident, stating that upon receiving the information, police and GRP (Government Railway Police) personnel visited the site.  The GRP police are handling the body's recovery and further investigation.
