Revolutionary Student Unity (RSU) on Friday marked its 44th founding anniversary in a befitting manner at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The event began with a floral tribute to the organisation's martyrs and those who were killed in the country's democratic movements, followed by a one-minute silence.
General Secretary Jabir Ahmed Jubel reflected on the organisation's 44-year history, highlighting its crucial role in the anti-autocracy movement in 1990.
He noted that RSU played a leading role in organising the first rally against Ershad and was among the first to be arrested in the movement.
The anniversary concluded with President Dilip Roy expressing the party's commitment to building a society free of exploitation and advocating for a people-centered education system.
In a rally at the Raju Sculpture on the Dhaka University (DU) campus, leaders including DU unit President Nuzia Hasin Rasha, Chittagong University Convenor Jashad Zakir, Rajshahi University Organizing Secretary Khondaker Shahriar Alif, and Dhaka Metropolitan President Tayyab Islam, criticized the government for failing to implement structural reforms.
They called for addressing issues such as rise of commodity prices, worker rights, communal tension, and diplomatic instability, emphasising the need for a revolutionary change in the state.
