Bangladesh secured their place in the final of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 by thrashing Pakistan by second wickets in the first semi-final of the event at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With this victory, the Young Tigers reached the final for the second consecutive time keeping alive their dream of retaining the title.

Tiger boys opted to bowl first after winning the toss and Bangladesh skipper Azizul Hakim' Tamims decision proved spot-on as pacers Iqbal Hossain Emon and Maruf Mridha dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup. The two seamers combined to claim six wickets to set the tone for a dominant display.

Pakistan's innings got off to a nightmare start as both the openers were sent back without scoring. However, a 42-run partnership between Muhammad Riazullah (28) and captain Saad Baig (18) offered some resistance. Farhan Yousuf's quickfire run-a-ball 32 added a glimmer of hope but the rest of the lineup faltered. Pakistan eventually, were bowled out for a paltry 116 runs in just 37 overs.

Emon hauled four wicket for 24 runs in 7 overs, while Maruf took two for 23, with Al Fahad and Debashish Deba claiming a wicket each.
In reply, Bangladesh faced an early wobble losing Kalam Siddiqui for a duck with the score at 20. Jawad Abrar (17) followed soon after leaving the Junior Tigers at 27 for two. But a steady 57-run stand between captain Tamim and Shihab James calmed the nerves.

After James departed on 26, Tamim took charge and played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 61 off just 42 balls. His innings was studded with                seven fours and three sixes. Alongside him, Rizan Hossain remained unbeaten on five as the Tigers reached on 120 in just 22.1 overs, with 167 balls to spare.
Ali Raja, Abdul Sobhan and Naved Ahmed Khan claimed a wicket each for Pakistan.

Iqbal Hossain Emon of Bangladesh was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding spell.

Bangladesh will now face India in the final on December 8 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, who they beat in the semi-final of the previous edition of the event in 2023. The defending champions clinched the title beating the UAE with a commanding 195-run victory over the UAE.
