26 nabbed with drugs in 10 districts

A total of 26 people have been arrested along with drugs in separate drives in 10 districts - Sherpur, Dinajpur, Brahmanbaria, Kurigram, Kushtia, Rajbari, Thakurgaon, Pirojpur, Moulvibazar and Bhola, in recent times.

NALITABARI, SHERPUR: Bangladesh Army and police, in a joint drive, arrested four people along with heroin from Nalitabari Upazila in the district on Thursday night.

They were produced before the court on Friday noon.

The arrested are: Farid Alam, 32, convener of Nalitabari Town Chhatra Dal and son of Mojibar Rahman, and Habir Uddin, 45, son of late Syed Ali, residents of Madhyakalinagar area; Shahidul Islam, 32, son of Ashrab Ali of Garkanda area of Nalitabari Upazila; and Nazmul Haque, 27, son of late Abdul Latif, a resident of Khatua Kumri area under Sadar Upazila in the district.

It was known that acting on a tip-off, a team of army and police jointly conducted a drive in Kalinagar area under Nalitabari Municipality on Thursday night, and detained the four along with five puria of heroin.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalitabari Police Station (PS) Sanwar Hossain confirmed the matter, adding that the arrested were produced before the court after filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act.   

DINAJPUR: Three women were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in Kaharole and Parbatipur upazilas of the district recently.

Police detained a woman along with 12.5 kilograms of hemp from Kaharole Upazila early Thursday.

The arrested is Mst Rimu Begum, wife of Faruq Munshi, a resident of Garnurpur Village under Sundarpur Union in the upazila. 

Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area and arrested Rimu Begum along with the hemp worth about Tk 3.75 lakh. 

Kaharole PS OC Md Ruhul Amin confirmed the matter, adding that the arrested was produced before the court after filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act.

Meanwhile, police arrested two more women along with 80 bottles of phensedyl from Parbatipur Upazila recently.
The arrested women are: Yamun Bibi, 55, and Anjuara Begum, 52, hailed from Naogaon District.
 
Parbatipur PS OC Fakhrul Islam said that acting on a tip-off, a police team from Parbatipur Railway PS conducted a drive in Parbatipur Railway Station and arrested the women along with the drugs. 

The arrestees were sent to the jail following a court order, the OC added.

BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA: Two drug dealers were arrested along with hemp and phensedyl in separate drives from Bijoynagar Upazila in the district recently.

Members of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested a man along with two kilograms of hemp from the upazila on Wednesday.

Arrested Md Shah Alam, 57, son of Elu Mia, was a resident of Kamalmora Purba Para area in the upazila.

DNC sources said that on information, a team of the department arrested him along with the hemp at around 4 pm.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Bijoynagar PS in this connection.

Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested another man along with 148 bottles of phensedyl from the upazila recently.

Arrested Jakir Hossain, 26, was the son of Kamal Mia of Maijhati area under Singarbeel Union in the upazila. 

A team of RAB-9 arrested him from the area. Later on, he was handed over to police.  

RAJIBPUR, KURIGRAM: Police, in a drive, arrested two people along with 3,100 yaba tablets from the Sluice Gate area of Dhulauri Village under Rajibpur Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The arrested are: Md Hanif Mia, 28, and Md Rukunuzzaman, 19, residents of Chengtapara area under Rowmari Upazila of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the sluice gate area at around 9:30 am and arrested them with the yaba tablets, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Ruhul Amin.

A case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act with Rajibpur PS, the ASP added.

DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: Police arrested two persons along with tapentadol tablets from Daulatpur Upazila in the district on Tuesday.

The arrested are: Koniz, 35, son of late Shahidul, and Tikka, 42, son of late Foyez, residents of Daulatpur Upazila Bazar area.

Police arrested them along with the illegal tablets at noon.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Daulatpur PS against the duo.

GOALANDA, RAJBARI: Police arrested a drug peddler along with 65 bottles of phensedyl from Goalanda Upazila in the district early Tuesday. 

The arrested person is Asanur Rahman, 26, from Jashore District. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive on the Dhaka-khulna highway and arrested the drug peddler from in front of Daulatdia Union Parishad Complex with the drugs, said Goalanda Ghat PS OC Rakibul Islam. 

After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act, the arrestee was sent to jail following a court order, the OC added.

THAKURGAON: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three people along with 70 bottles of phensedyl from Haripur Upazila of the district on Monday evening.

The arrested are: Md Hossain Ali, 42, son of Amanullah of Chourangi Bazar area; Md Enamul, 40, son of Md Saifuddin of Birgar Village; and Md Mansur Ali, 35, son of Md Jenarul of Pahargaon Village in the upazila.

It was known that a team of BGB from Bujruk BOP arrested the trio along with the phensedyl from Bujruk Balur Char area in the evening. 

Later on, the three were sent to jail on Tuesday afternoon following a court order.

PIROJPUR: Three people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in Nazirpur and Mathbaria upazilas of the district in two days.

Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a man along with four kilograms of hashish from Nazirpur Upazila on Monday.

The arrested man is Md Omar Faruqe Hossain, son of Md Habibur Rahman Khan, a resident of Juskhola Village under Sikder-Mollick Union in Sadar Upazila of the district.

ASP Md Mukit Hasan Khan said that on information, a team of DB Police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Tariqul Islam set up a check-post at Mathtibanga of the upazila in the evening, and detained him along with the hashish worth about Tk 2.40 lakh. 
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Nazirpur PS in this regard, the ASP added.

On the other hand, police arrested another drug dealer along with 22 yaba tablets and 300 grams of hashish from Mathbaria Upazila in the district on Sunday.

The arrested person is Shah Alam Hawlader, 53, son of late Shahjahin Hawlader, a resident of Kachubaria Village in the upazila. He is a listed drug dealer.

Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers led by SI Shahinur Islam conducted a drive in Kachubaria area, and detained Shah Alam along with the yaba tablets and hashish.

Mathbaria PS OC Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with the PS in this regard.

Meanwhile, another man was arrested along with hashish in Mathbaria Municipality.

The arrested man is Nur Mohammad Kazi, son of Faruk Kazi, a resident of Bus Stand road area.

He was caught red-handed while selling hashish in the municipality.

Later on, a mobile court led by Mathbaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Abdul Kaiyum fined him Tk 200 and sent him to the jail.

KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR: DB Police arrested a man along with 210 yaba tablets from Kamalganj Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested person is Satya Debnath, 41, son of late Jagannath Deb, a resident of Dakshin Village under Rahimpur Union in the upazila. 

District DB Police sources said that on information, a team of the force conducted a drive in Chaitraghat Bazar of Rahimpur Union, and arrested Satya along with the yaba tablets.

Kamalganj PS OC Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the matter, adding that a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with the PS in this regard.

TAZUMUDDIN, BHOLA: Police arrested five people along with 35 yaba tablets from Tazumuddin Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested persons are: Md Akhtar, 24, son of Tofazzel, and Md Siraz, 35, son of Md Hanif, residents of Koralmara Village under Shamvupur Union; Md Arif, 19, son of Abu Taher of Ward No. 4 Uttar Chachra area; and Md Tamim, 19, son of Joynal Abedin of Abuganj Bazar area in the upazila. 

Tazumuddin PS OC Abdullah Al Mamun said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Koralmara Jamadar Bari area under Shamvupur Union, and arrested the five along with the yaba tablets.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with Tazumuddin PS in this connection, the OC added.
