Defending champions Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team has advanced to the Asia Cup final for the second consecutive year after a commanding seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in Dubai on Friday.
Chasing a target of 117, Bangladesh reached the mark in just 22.1 overs, securing their place in the final against India on December 8 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
A disciplined bowling performance by Bangladesh limited Pakistan to a paltry 116 runs. The bowlers consistently disrupted Pakistan’s batting lineup, preventing any meaningful partnerships from forming.
Bangladesh's reply began with a setback as opener Kalam Siddique was dismissed without scoring in the seventh over. Jawad Abrar added 17 runs before falling at 28/2, but captain Azizul Hakim Tamim steadied the innings with Mohammad Shihab James. The duo stitched together a crucial 57-run partnership to put Bangladesh on course.
James departed for 26 off 36 balls, but Tamim continued his composed innings, finding support from Rizwan Hossain. Tamim finished unbeaten on 61 off 42 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries and three sixes. Rizwan remained not out on 5, and Tamim sealed the victory with a boundary in the 23rd over.
India, who overcame Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the other semifinal, now stand between Bangladesh and their quest to defend their Asia Cup title.
