Women's hockey team Jr. Asia Cup mission begins Saturday

After the men's hockey team, it's now the mission of Bangladesh Jr. women's hockey team as their Women's Hockey Junior Asia Cup campaign begins from Saturday (Dec 7) in Muscat, Oman.

The women's hockey team earlier on Wednesday left for Oman to participate in the tournament.

Like the just concluded men's tournament, ten teams, split in two groups, will take part in the Women's Junior Asia Cup.

Bangladesh have been placed in Group A along with China, defending champions India, Thailand, and Malaysia while the group B consists of Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Chinese Taipei.

The final of the tournament will be held on December 15 Five highest-ranked teams will qualify for the 2025 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup which will be held next year in Chile.

Bangladesh will start their tournament campaign taking on China on December 7 and meet India on December 8.

Bangladesh will play their remaining group A matches against Thailand and Malaysia on December 10 and 11 respectively.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh U-21 men's hockey team created history as they qualified for the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup for the first time after thrashing Thailand by 7-2 goals in the Junior Asia Cup.    —BSS
