LALMOHAN, BHOLA, Dec 5: The upazila of Bhola consists of nine unions and a municipality. To spread the light of primary education in this upazila, there are currently a total of 210 government primary schools.

However, 76 government primary schools do not have head teachers. At present, the teaching and administrative activities of the schools are being carried out by the Acting Headmasters. Besides, there are also vacant 68 assistant teacher posts.

According to field sources, this situation disrupts the normal education programme in these schools. Also, the quality of education in schools is decreasing day by day.

This information has been confirmed by the Lalmohan Upazila Primary Education office.

A few assistant teachers who did not want to reveal their names,  said that the one who is performing the duties as the acting head teacher is an assistant teacher like them.

Therefore, in many cases the teacher in charge of the acting head teacher has to face extreme difficulties in properly managing the other assistant teachers of the school.

Many assistant teachers expressed reluctance to obey the instructions of the acting head teacher. As a result, the education of students is seriously disturbed. Therefore, the appointment of head teachers in schools is very important.

On the other hand, the parents of those government primary schools say that the acting headmaster is basically an assistant teacher of that school. The acting headmaster is often busy with official work. For which, he cannot come to school regularly.

Besides, the other assistant teachers in the school are also not following his instructions properly. As a result, students are having problems in their studies.

Therefore, the authorities concerned are requested to bring back the quality of education by appointing headmasters in these schools as soon as possible.

In this regard, Lalmohan Upazila Primary Education Officer Aktaruzzaman Milan said that 76 government primary schools of the upazila do not have head teachers. Because of which, the teaching of the school along with the administrative work is seriously disrupted.

"That's why we have already sent the list for the post of head teacher to the higher authorities. If the authorities appoint headmasters according to that list, the problems facing the schools will be solved", he maintained.

This education officer also said that there are still 68 assistant teacher posts vacant in Lalmohan Upazila.

"We have also sent the list to the concerned department to fill those posts of assistant teachers", he further said.

Upazila schools without assistant teachers will be filled up only if new teachers are appointed, the official added.
