Two cosmetic manufacturing establishments were fined TK 70,000 on charges of illegal manufacturing and selling of items in Rajshahi district on Thursday.
The divisional office of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in Rajshahi conducted the drive in different areas of Charghat upazila in the district.
The mobile court, led by executive magistrate Arif Hossain, found that 'Zia Cosmetics' and 'Riya-Roshni Enterprise' were selling cosmetic items without BSTI certificates and fined them TK 40,000 and TK 30,000, respectively.
They also destroyed about 4,000 pieces of fake products and 5,000 labels of 'Zia Cosmetics' as it had been illegally manufacturing and selling cosmetic products under the labels of different reputed companies without a license for a long time.
During the drive, around 2,000 fake products from ‘Riya-Roshni Enterprise' were destroyed as it did not follow BSTI rules."
