Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (Swachip) president Dr Md Jamal Uddin Chowdhury has been sent to jail after his arrest in a case related to attempt to murder a child at Bhatara area in the capital.

He was sent to jail in attempt to murder Zakaria Yasin at Bhatara in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order on Thursday (December 5). 

Earlier, investigation officer of the case sub-inspector Md Kamruzzaman pleaded to the court to keep the arrested 65-year-old Dr Jamal Uddin Chowdhury in jail. Then the magistrate passed the order sending him to jail.

Several coordinators of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement detained Dr Jamal Uddin Chowdhury from his own residence at Basundhara area on Wednesday (December 4) night. Then the coordinators handed him over to Bhatara Police Station's custody. Afterward, he was shown arrested in a case filed with the Bhatara Police Station. He is a suspected accused in the case. 

Sub-inspector Md Kamruzzaman of Bhatara Police Station confirmed it.

The case statement reads that in the afternoon of July 23 last, 11-year-old child, Zakaria Yasin, along with his mother was offering drinking water  to the anti-discrimination movement students in front of their house at Bhatara area. Suddenly, leaders and workers of Awami League and its front organisations along with police opened fire. Zakaria Yasin received bullet on his left leg. After remaining at a hospital, he recovered from illness. Later on October 2 last, his mother Parvin filed an attempt to murder case with Bhatara Police Station. Jamal Uddin is a suspected accused in the case.
