Bangladesh Ambassador hosts educative session for Filothei Preliminary School Students on Int'l Day of Persons with Disability

Athens, Greece – December 5: The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Greece Nahida Rahman Shumona hosted an insightful and engaging educational session for the students of Filothei Preliminary School of Athens in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This event aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs) and promote their inclusion in society.

The session provided the young students with a unique opportunity to learn about the daily experiences and obstacles encountered by PWDs. In a heartfelt address, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of empathy, understanding, and support for creating an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their abilities.

Dr Eleftheria Koumeki, a renowned School Psychologist, was invited to lead an interactive discussion with the students. Dr Koumeki shared her expertise and insights on how to foster inclusivity and support PWDs in their communities. She emphasized the significance of recognizing the strengths and potential of individuals with disabilities and the need for inclusive education and social practices.

The event was met with great enthusiasm by the students, who actively participated in discussions and activities designed to enhance their understanding and empathy. Through storytelling and practical examples, the session aimed to equip the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to an inclusive society.
As part of the session, students were encouraged to express their thoughts and ideas on how they can support and include their peers with disabilities. The Ambassador commended the students for their eagerness to learn and their commitment to making a positive impact.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed annually on December 3, is a United Nations-sanctioned day that promotes the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society and development. This event at Filothei Preliminary School was a testament to the ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
