A youth was reportedly stabbed to death reportedly by some youths in Ashoktola area of Cumilla.
The deceased Sajib Hossain Babu, 22, was a resident of Sultanpur village in Debidwar Upazila.
Quoting locals, Mohinul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cumilla Kotwali Model police station, said that on Tuesday night, a youth who was known to Sajib called him out of his rented house in Ashoktola area.
Later, some youths beat Sajib up indiscriminately and stabbed him near the Ashoktola rail gate, leaving him critically injured.
Relatives rescued him and took him to Moon Hospital in Cumilla city. He died there at around 11.30AM on Wednesday (December 4).
The official said as Sajib's relatives attempted to take his body back to their village home and did not informed the police, they recovered the body from his relatives at around 3pm and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately and police and army members are investigating the incident, said OC Mohinul Islam.
