The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Wednesday sent former Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu and former Food minister Qamrul Islam to jail after showing them arrested in a case filed over crimes against humanity and genocide committed during the student movement in July-August.

The tribunal also ordered the authorities concerned to produce them before it on December 18 for further hearings over the matter.

The three-member tribunal panel, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza, passed the order. The other members of the panel are Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Earlier, on December 2, in response to petition filed by the prosecution, the tribunal ordered to produce them before it on December 4.

As per the tribunal order, the authorities concerned produced the duo before the court around 10:20am.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution filed a petition to formally show them as arrested.
