Urging the Indian government to stop its hegemony against Bangladesh, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday said that the people are ready to resist any aggression on the country's sovereignty.

"If the Indian aggression is not stopped, people may demand Bangla-Bihar-Odisha state. If the Indian government thinks that they will continue its aggression and try to control Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and other countries, they are living in fool's paradise. We, the  Hindu and Muslims in Bangladesh will stand together to resist Indian aggression," he said while addressing a protest rally organised by Bangladesh Puja Celebration Front following the attack on Bangladesh's Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India.

Rizvi said Hindus and Muslims in Bangladesh are  united against any move from the borders.

He said, "The children of this soil, irrespective of religion, will not sell our country. Together, Hindus and Muslims will resist  Delhi's aggressive design."

Rizvi said, India's BJP government  promotes hatred and division to remain in power. Without this tactics, it would be difficult for Narendra Modi to remain in power."

Quoting renowned writer Annada Shankar Roy, he said, "The BJP's predecessors contributed nothing to India's independence."

He also expressed resentment over  West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's, recent remarks against Bangladesh. He accused her of having a hidden agenda of extremist Hindutva.

"Secularism cannot coexist with fanaticism of any ideology," he said, adding, "Although Muslims constitute  25 per cent of the population, only 1 per cent are represented in government jobs in India."

He lauded Bangladesh's tradition of religious harmony and criticised India's media for spreading Anti-Bangladesh propaganda, terming them as 'pursuing  India's political agenda'.

Rizvi said: "We are committed to protecting our independence and sovereignty. We respect the independence of all nations, but if Indian rulers think they can dominate Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and others, they are living in a fool's paradise."

Bangladesh Puja Celebration Front  President Aparna Roy Das presided over the rally while its General Secretary Samir Kumar Basu, conducted the discussions. Among others BNP leaders including Mir Sharafat Ali Sapu, Amalendu Das Apu, Modhu Suranjan Ghosh, Goutam Baidya, Joydev and Dhaka Journalists Union leader Sayed Khan also spoke.
