Blind T20 World Cup:

Bangladesh finishes as runner-up, CA congratulates team

Bangladesh's blind cricket team fell short of clinching the title at the 4th edition of Blind T20 World Cup 2024 as the host Pakistan defeated them by 10 wickets to claim their first-ever championship in the tournament's history at Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

After went to bat first, Bangladesh posted a total of 139 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. However, Pakistan's openers dominated the chase, reaching the target in just 11.2 overs without losing a wicket.  
Despite the loss, the team received high praise, with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus extending his congratulations. In a message, he stated, "The entire nation is proud of their achievement."

For Bangladesh, Arif Hossain top-scored with a resilient 54 runs, supported by Salman's 31 and Ashiqur’s 22 runs. On the bowling side, Pakistan’s Babar Ali stood out with 2 wickets, while Mohammad Salman and Matiullah chipped in with one each.  

Pakistan's openers, Nisar Ali and Mohammad Safdar, led the chase with unbeaten knocks of 72 and 47 runs, respectively. This win marks a historic milestone for Pakistan, who had previously lost in two finals to India in 2012 and 2017.  

India remains the most successful team in the tournament, having won the first three editions, though they did not participate this year. 

The 2024 edition featured six teams: Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, and South Africa.
