Two people murdered in 2 districts

Two people including a woman were murdered in separate incidents in two districts - Dhaka and Munshiganj, on Saturday.

SAVAR, DHAKA: Terrorists reportedly hacked a young man to death at Ashulia of Savar in the district on Saturday.

The murder took place in the evening in Unique area in front of Kazir Bar of Ashulia.

Police visited the scene after receiving information but were unable to arrest anyone involved in the murder.

Deceased Faisal Kabir, son of Abul Kalam Azad, hailed from Dharmadi Dakshinpara Village under Nagarkanda Police Station (PS) in Faridpur District. He worked as an office assistant in the office of local transport businessman Mazharul Haque and used to live in a rented house at Gazirchat.

According to police, at around 6:30 pm, a group of 8 to 9 unidentified assailants hacked Faisal with sharp knives in that area. Later on, locals rescued Faisal in a critical condition and took to nearby Happy General Hospital. From there, he was taken to the Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex for advanced treatment, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

On information, police recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia PS Abu Bakar Siddique said, "There are multiple police teams at the scene. They are investigating the matter. The mystery of the murder will be solved very soon and the killers will be brought to justice."

MUNSHIGANJ: A case has been filed implicating lover Towheed as the prime accused in Shahida Akter murder on the Expressway Service Lane in Sreenagar Upazila of the district.

The deceased's mother Jorina Begum filed the case with Sreenagar PS on Sunday morning.

Confirming about the registering of the case into the gruesome murder of the 24-year-old, Sreenagar PS OC Qayyum Uddin Chowdhury said that police have been conducting drives at different places to arrest the principal accused of the case. But, it could not be possible to arrest him yet. However, he is hopeful of bringing Towheed before justice soon.

Deceased Shahida lived at Wari in the capital and the accused Towheed also lived in the same area.

Additional Superintend of Police (Crimes) Mohammad Firoz Kabir said police have been working constantly to unearth the mystery behind the brutal murder.

On early Saturday morning, the bullet-hit body of Shahida Akter was found on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Dogachhi in Sreenagar.

The deceased was Shahida Begum, daughter of Motaleb Mia. She used to work as a domestic help in a house at Wari in Dhaka.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the expressway and Shahida's mother Jorina Khatun identified her body in the afternoon.

It could not be possible to identify the dead body through her fingerprints. Later on, the deceased's family members were contacted and Shahida's mother Jorina Begum identified her daughter.

According to locals, Shahida was roaming with a young man in the early morning and locked into an altercation with him.
Police also seized five empty bullet shells from near Shahida's dead body.

Police said, the killer fled immediately after shooting the woman five times from point blank range. A motorcycle was also found near the body.

A special team from the PBI collected evidence from the site.

The body was sent to a local hospital morgue for an autopsy.
