Bangladesh seized control on Day-3 of the second Test in the two-match series against the West Indies at Sabina Park in Jamaica on Tuesday. They established a lead of 211 runs with five wickets in hand in their second innings.

The highlight of the day was a brilliant performance by pacer Nahid Rana, whose maiden five-wicket haul dismantled the West Indies for just 146 and gave Bangladesh a slender first-innings lead of 18 runs.

Resuming from their overnight score of 70 for one, the West Indies suffered a dramatic collapse losing nine wickets for just 76 runs. Among the batters, Keacy Carty (40), skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (39) and Mikyle Louis (12) were only managed to reach double figures.

Rana, playing his fifth Test, exploited the conditions expertly and finished with figures of five for 61. Hasan Mahmud took two wickets, while Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam and skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed one wicket each.

In their second innings, Bangladesh faced an early blow when opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy departed without adding any runs.

Shahadat Hossain Dipu, promoted to one-down instead of Mominul Haque, joined Shadman Islam to steady the innings with a 47-run partnership. Dipu scored 28 before falling.

Miraz came in at No. 4 and formed a crucial 70-run partnership with Shadman. However, both batters narrowly missed their half-centuries, with Shadman falling for 46 and Miraz for 42. Liton Das contributed 25 runs, while Jaker Ali and night-watchman Taijul remained unbeaten on 29 and nine runs respectively as Bangladesh closed the day on 193 for five.

For the West Indies, Shamar Joseph claimed two wickets, while Justin Greaves, Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales shared one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first, but were bowled out for 164 in their first innings. Shadman top-scored with 64, while Miraz and Dipu added 36 and 22 runs respectively.

Jayden Seales led the West Indies bowling attack with three wickets, while Shamar Joseph also picked up three. Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph chipped in with two and one wicket respectively.
