BCB announces ODI squad for WI series excluding Shakib, Shanto

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday announced a 15 member squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.

Regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has been excluded from the squad due to an injury sustained during the previous ODI series against Afghanistan. In Shanto's absence, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is currently leading the Test team, will also captain the ODI side.

Veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who was ruled out of the West Indies tour due to injury, will miss the ODI series as well. Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy is another notable absentee, having sustained an injury during a practice session.

Afif Hossain Dhrubo, who last represented Bangladesh in December 2023 against New Zealand, has been recalled to the squad after a year.

Meanwhile, Zakir Hasan, part of the ODI squad during the Afghanistan series, has been left out. Pace bowler Nahid Rana, who impressed with the ball in Afghanistan series, retains his place in the squad.
