The helper of a bus was burnt to death and four houses were gutted by fire in separate incidents in two districts - Chattogram and Khulna, in three days.
CHATTOGRAM: Four dwelling houses were gutted by fire that broke out at Barumchara Village under Anwara Upazila in the district at dawn on Sunday.
Anwara Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said that the fire originated at a house in the aforesaid area at around 5 am and soon engulfed the neighbouring houses.
However, the reason behind originating the fire could not be known immediately.
A unit of Fire Service from Anwara rushed to the scene and brought the flame under control with the help of locals by around 6 am.
KHULNA: A helper of a bus was burnt to death in a fire reportedly originating from a mosquito coil inside the vehicle in Khulna City early Friday.
The incident occurred at Sonadanga Bus Terminal in the city at around 2 am.
The deceased was identified as Md Shariful, the helper of 'Sundarban Paribahan' bus and a resident of Munshiganj District.
Transport workers said that Shariful fell asleep inside the bus after igniting the mosquito coal at night.
Later on, the bus caught fire from the coil and it got completely burnt to ashes, they said.
Workers usually sleep inside the buses at night using mosquito coils and the incident of fire occurred several times, they informed.
Officer-in-Charge of Sonadanga Police Station Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the incident.
