Sadia Sultana, a renowned Bangladeshi gold medalist shooter, has passed away while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Chattogram on Monday.

Doctors confirmed that her death resulted from a brain hemorrhage. Sadia had faced prolonged health issues since a fire accident in 2017 left her severely injured.

Sadia enjoyed a distinguished career in shooting. In 2010, she won a gold medal in the 10-meter air rifle event at Commonwealth Shooting Championship in Delhi. Earlier that year, she also claimed gold at South Asian Games in the same discipline.

Her last notable achievement was in Bangladesh Games-2013, where she excelled in the 10-meter air rifle event. Afterward, she stepped away from competitive shooting, marking the end of her career.

Former BCB director and Chattogram Divisional Sports Association's ex-general secretary Sirajuddin Alamgir announced that Sadia's funeral prayer will be held after Esha at 8 PM in Chattogram. The prayer will take place at the Hamzarbag Mominbag Anirban Club grounds.

Sadia Sultana's contributions to sports in Bangladesh will be remembered as she leaves behind a legacy of excellence in shooting.
