Islamic University (IU) appointed a new pro-Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer on Monday. Prof. Dr. M. Yeaqub Ali of the Department of Al-Quran and Islamic Studies and Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam of the Department of Economics have been appointed as pro-Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer, respectively.
The Ministry of Education issued separate notifications in this regard.
According to Section 11 Ka (1) and Section 12 (1) of the Islamic University Act 1980 (Amended Law 2010), President Mohammed Shahabuddin, the Chancellor of the university, appointed them for the next four years, as stated in the notification.
Additionally, on 5 August, following the fall of the Awami League government, former pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mahbubur Rahman and Treasurer Prof. Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan resigned, citing personal reasons.
