BNP leaders and activists on Sunday expressed their satisfaction over the verdict of the High Court Division in the August 21 grenade attack case acquitting all the 24 accused.
The leaders and activists of different districts distributed sweets and offered special prayers.
Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan office, justice has been done.
"The Awami League government used state power to illegally implicate Tarique Rahman and others in the case," he said.
The High Court announced the verdict on Sunday (December 1). In this case, acting chairman of BNP Tareque Rahman, former state minister for home Lutfuzzaman Babar, BNP Vice Chairman Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad and all the accused were acquitted.
Rizvi said, "India's ruling BJP and its allies are also engaged in spreading anti-Bangladesh propaganda. India is interfering in Bangladesh's internal affairs."
He said the defeated fascist group is hatching anti-Bangladesh conspiracy. "Some in the interim government are propagating through their remarks and statements that BNP is an obstacle to banning Awami League, which is not correct," he said.
He said that the government alone can decide whether or not to ban Awami League.
"It is regrettable to blame BNP for this," Rizvi added.
"We hoped that the interim government, including the chief adviser and other advisers, will refrain from making statements weaken democratic forces or create divisions in our unity," Rizvi said.
He said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman already urged the interim government to take urgent steps to ensure the political and economic empowerment of the people.
After the press conference Rizvi led a procession from in front of the party's central office and ended at Nightingale More at Naya Paltan.
Prayers were offered at mosques and temples in different district including Ananda Masjid in Muradnagar, Cumilla.
Thousands of people came to the Muradnagar BNP office in processions.
