Sarjis vows to keep July uprising spirit alive

General Secretary of the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation, Sarjis Alam, pledged on Sunday to preserve the spirit of the July Uprising and ensure that students will take to the streets again in future if any crisis arises. 

He said this during an interaction with teachers and students at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Degree College in Panchagarh.

Sarjis Alam emphasised that the energy and unity demonstrated by the youth during the July Uprising should be maintained, so that students can once again get united to take collective action against any challenges in future.

"We are working across the country to keep this spirit alive," he said.

He said that student coordinators are working with students and teachers in schools and colleges to address the  challenges and limitations faced by educational institutions.

"We are committed to understand these issues, offering support where possible, and raising awareness at the national level," he said, adding, "We believe it is our responsibility."

Sarjis also stressed the importance of  rebuilding post-uprising Bangladesh through systemic reforms. 

"We are working across the country to fulfill our responsibilities, " he said.

The meeting was attended by college students, Principal Anisur Rahman, former MP Reena Parveen, local Union Parishad Chairman Tofail Pradhan, local student coordinators Fazle Rabbi and Mokaddesur Rahman.
