National Institute of Preventive and Social Medical (NIPSOM), Bangladesh's leading institution of public health, on Sunday organized a public communication to increase awareness among common people and prevent dengue and identifying the breeding ground of the Aedes mosquito, which carries this dengue disease and eliminate it.
NIPSOM Director Prof Dr Md Ziaul Islam chaired the inauguration programme while all faculty members and students participated the programme dividing into four groups at its auditorium.
After the group discussion, the participants distributed leaflets along with public relations for awareness rally and involvement among the public in the entire Mahakhali area, according to a press release.
While talking at the programme, the team members stated that NIPSOM has always played a leading role in researching and solving important national and international problems related to public health.
Regarding this event, NIPSOM director highlighted the importance of community involvement and said that it is not possible to prevent dengue without the cooperation of all stakeholders.
In the same context, Head Entomology Department of NIPSOM Prof Dr Md Golam Sharower, also head of the team number 1, said that there is no alternative to public awareness and involvement to identify the breeding ground of Aedes mosquito and eliminate it. Everyone has to work together.
