Natore Chamber of Commerce resumes function after 12 years

NATORE, Dec 1: The activities of Natore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) have been started again with full enthusiasm  after a close of 12 years.

According to sources,  the activities of the NCCI were closed for long time. As a result general people and the promoters were deprived largely from its regular services. 

In this connection, a views-exchange meeting with the local journalists was arranged in the hallroom of the NCCI office at Lalbazar on Saturday in order to inform the journalists about the next movement of the chamber.

During this time Abdul Mannaf,  president of the chamber, said, The NCCI had 700 members 12 years ago. Of them about 600 members had left the chamber being compelled as the situation was not favourable to them to stay there.

Later on, a new committee was formed with 150 members through an election to run the chamber on October 19, 2024, he said.  The new committee is now working to get back the speed of business and trade in the district. 

Journalists, in their speech, gave some suggestions to the chamber members for doing the activities of the chamber stronger and proposed some development works for the interest of the Natore people.     

The proposals are: Gas connection in industrial field in Natore, extension of BSIC activities, re-digging of gas field at Singra and modern method of sugar production at two sugar mills in the district. 

Journalists urged the authority to implement the suggestions in phases for the economic development of the district. 

Among others, Sheikh Emdadul Haque Al-Mamun, senior vice-president of the NCCI, Prodip Agorwal, vice-president, Habib Ahsan Babu (director), Farazi Ahmed Rafiq Babon, president of Natore Press Club, Rezaul Karim, president of United Press Club, S M Sedrul Huda David,  correspondent of The Daily Observer, Halim Khan, NTV Reporter, and Al-Mamun of  Samoy TV spoke at the meeting.
