Martyrs of July-August uprising remembered

Remembrance meetings were organized in Chandpur and Tangail districts on Saturday, recalling the memories of those martyred and injured in the July-August mass uprising. 

CHANDPUR: A memorial meeting was held in the conference room of the deputy commissioner's (DC) office in the district town on Saturday, remembering the martyrs and the injured of July-August mass uprising.

Chandpur DC Mohammad Mohsin Uddin presided over the meeting.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Abdur Rakib, Civil Surgeon of the district Dr Mohammad Nur Alam Din, Additional DC (ADC) (General) Md Mostafizur Rahman, Superintendent of Chandpur Government General Hospital Dr AKM Mahbubu Rahman and President of Chandpur Press Club Shahadat Hossain Shanto, among others, also spoke at the programme moderated by Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Al-Imran Khan.

The speakers said that the anti-discrimination student movement of July-August is an important part of history and the sacrifices of the martyrs and injury are inspirations to move forward.

Israt Jahan Bindu, a master's student of Chandpur Government College, Majahid Shihab, an honours second year student of Cumilla Victoria College, and Rakib Bhuiyan, an honours second year student of Chandpur Government College, among others, spoke at the event commemorating the martyrs.

TANGAIL: A memorial meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office in the district town on Saturday, remembering the martyrs and the injured of July-August mass uprising.

Tangail DC Sharifa Haque addressed the function as the chief guest.

SP Md Saiful Islam Santu, Deputy Director of Local Government of the district Md Shihab Raihan, ADC (General) Ziaul Islam Chowdhury, ADC (Education and ICT) A M Zahirul Hayat and Army Captain Ahnaf Ridwan, among others, also spoke on the occasion.

Student representatives of the anti-discrimination student movement and the injured and members of the families of martyrs, among others, were also present at the programme.
