Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two alleged notorious criminals along with a firearm, 12 grenades, and 2 rounds of ammunition in Bhola on Sunday (December 1, 2024).
The arrested are Mohammad Faruk Doulat and Mohammad Hosne Siam.
According to Lieutenant Commander Khondkar Munif Taki, the Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, the arrested criminals were involved in a range of illegal activities, including extortion, land grabbing and using weapons to intimidate locals in the West Ilisha and Char Samaiya areas of Bhola district. They were notorious for leading violent criminal groups in the region.
Based on a tip-off, two separate operations were carried out by Bangladesh Coast Guard in South Char Pata area and near 9th Char Samaiya Union. During the raids, 1 homemade firearm, 2 rounds of empty cartridges, 12 grenades, 3 homemade weapons and 16 disability cards were recovered from the suspects.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized evidence, were later handed over to the Bhola Sadar Model Police Station for further legal action.
