Youth held with firearms, ammunition in Cox's Bazar

Police have arrested a youth along with four firearms and ten rounds of ammunition during a raid in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar. 

The arrested Md. Sajed, 26, from Boro Deil area, was arrested during the operation. 

The raid took place at around 2:30 AM on December 1 in Boro Deil area of Boro Maheshkhali union in the upazila. 

According to law enforcement, Sajed is an alleged arms dealer with multiple cases filed against him.

Led by Maheshkhali Police Station officer-in-charge Kaisar Hamid, the operation resulted in the seizure of one three-G rifle, one double-barrel shotgun, one single-barrel shotgun, one locally made gun (LG), and ten rounds of ammunition  

OC Kaisar Hamid said, "The arrested is a known arms dealer and has several cases pending against him. This operation is part of our efforts to curb illegal arms trade in the region."

Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police, Rahmat Ullah, confirmed that legal proceedings are underway against the accused. He added, "The recovered arms and ammunition are evidence of ongoing criminal activity. Operations like these will continue to ensure law and order in the area."
