Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has been sent to jail after three days remand in Fazlul Karim murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate passed the order on Sunday after inspector Mahmudur Rahman of the detective branch (DB) produced him before the court and prayed to keep Mamun in the jail till the end of the investigation into the case.
After hearing the statement of the prosecution side, the court ordered to send him to jail.
Earlier, on September 3, police arrested the former IGP from Dhaka for his alleged involvement with the mass killing during the July-August uprising.
According to the sources, Mamun was first taken on 18 days remand and later it was extended for 43 days in seven cases.
According to the case, on August 5, Fazlul Karim participated in the anti-discrimination student movement at Jasim Uddin crossing in Uttara.
Fazlul with the bullet injuries was taken to Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Anwar Hossain Aynal, brother of Fazlul Karim, filed a case with Uttara Purba thana accusing 39 persons including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
