Six more people died from dengue and 882 more patients were admitted to the hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.
With the latest fatalities, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease rose to 494 this year. Besides,in November, a total of 173 people have died from dengue, the highest in a single month this year.
According to the daily update of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), of the latest deaths, two were reported in Chattogram division (Outside the city corporation) and one death each in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka division, Rahshahi and Barishal division.
A total of 1,110 patients were released from hospitals after treatment during the 24 hours period and 88,989 were release till date.
Of the new infected patients, 233 were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka division (excluding city corporation), while 140 were in DNCC, 141 in Chattogram division. (DSCC).
As many as 2,868 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. Of them, 1,193 are hospitalised in the capital and 1,675 are outside Dhaka.
Since January 1, 2024, a total of 92,351 dengue cases have been reported.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 1,705 people, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS data showed that there were 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
