Bangladesh
Student Federation on Sunday held a solidarity procession on Dhaka
University campus, demanding formation of a National Students Council to
preserve the unity formed during the July Uprising.
Before the
procession, the student organisation held a brief rally at the base of
Raju Memorial Sculpture and called for action on key issues, including
the failure of the interim government.
Addressing the rally,
Student Federation General Secretary Saikat Arif criticised the interim
government's 'continued failure' to address the needs of the people.
He
said, "After three months, we see the interim government's persistent
failures. The injured from the uprising are not receiving proper
treatment, and the government has failed to control rising prices and
ensure law and order."
He stressed the need for unity to fight against ongoing fascist conspiracies.
President
Mashiur Rahman Khan Richard condemned the burning of Bangladesh's flag
in front of the Bangladeshi Deputy High Commission in Kolkata and said,
"Our stance is against India's aggressive policies, not against the
Indian people. We must protect our sovereignty against foreign threats
and internal conspiracies."
