A total of 15 people including a woman have been arrested along with drugs in separate drives in 10 districts - Lalmonirhat, Gazipur, Brahmanbaria, Pirojpur, Cumilla, Moulvibazar, Kurigram, Bhola, Barguna and Natore, in recent times.
LALMONIRHAT: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a drive, arrested a man along with 361 bottles of intoxicating syrup from a frontier area in Kaliganj Upazila of the district at dawn on Saturday.
The arrested person is Fazar Ali, 35, son of Azahar Ali, a resident of Dulali area under the upazila.
Acting Commander of BGB-15 Battalion Major M Asiful Islam Siddiqui said that acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB-15 Battalion conducted a drive in Dulali Point area of the upazila at around 4:30 am, and arrested Azahar along with the contraband syrup.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Kaliganj Police Station (PS) in Lalmonirhat, the arrested person was handed over to the police, the BGB official added.
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Police, in a drive, arrested a female drug peddler along with the equipment for making liquor in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The arrested woman is Lata Palma, 42, a resident of South Souarikhola Village in the upazila.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in South Souarikhola Village under Tumlia Union of the upazila at night, and arrested Lata Palma from her house along with the equipment for making liquor.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Kaliganj PS in Gazipur, the arrested woman was sent to the jail following a court order.

BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA: Two people were arrested along with drugs in separate drives in Bijoynagar Upazila of the district recently.
Police arrested a drug peddler along with 1,540 yaba tablets from the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The arrested man is Shafiqul Islam alias Shafiq, 40, a resident of Ichhapur Union in the upazila.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Shapur area under Paharpur Union of the upazila and arrested him from on the Champaknagar-Aulia bazar with the drugs at around 5 pm.
Bijoynagar PS OC Rawsan Ali confirmed the matter.
Later on, the arrested individual has been produced before the court after filing of a case against him under the Narcotics Control Act with the PS, the OC added.
On the other hand, police arrested a drug peddler along with 18 bottles of Scof drug from Bijoynagar Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested young man is Ridoy Islam, 21.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Kashinagar area under Singarbari Union of the upazila and arrested Ridoy along with the drugs.
Bijoynagar PS OC Rowsan Ali confirmed the matter, adding that a case has been filed in this regard with the PS under the Narcotics Control Act.
PIROJPUR: Detective Branch (DB) of Police, in a drive, arrested two drug dealers along with one kilogram of hashish from the district on Tuesday night.
The arrested persons are: Biduit Ghosh, 35, son Bipol Ghosh, and Md Saidul Islam Sakib, 20, son of Nur Mohammad. Both of them are residents of Purba Subitpur Village under Kawkhali Upazila in the district.
It was known that on information, a team of the District DB Police led by its Sub-Inspector Robin Rahman conducted a drive in Bekutia Bridhe Toll Plaza area at night and detained the duo along with the hashish worth about Tk 60,000.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with the PS concerned, the arrested persons were sent to the jail following a court order.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Crime and Operation) Md Mukit Hassan Khan confirmed the matter.
CUMILLA: An Indian national was arrested by the members of BGB on Tuesday along with 100 bottles of phensedyl in Golabari area under Sadar Upazila of the district.
The arrested person was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 18, hails from India.
Commander of Comilla BGB Battalion-10 Lt Colonel Md Iftekhar Hossain said that the BGB personnel arrested Mehdi Hasan along with 100 bottles of phensidyl and one mobile phone from the Keraninagar area under Sadar Upazila in the morning.
Mehedi, who is involved in smuggling, illegally entered Bangladesh's territory, he said.
Later on, the detainee was handed over to Comilla Kotwali Model PS to take further actions, the BGB official added.
KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR: DB Police, in a drive, arrested a drug peddler along with 14 bottles of Indian liquor from Kamalganj Upazila in the district on Monday afternoon.
The arrested man is Romesh Rabi Das, 27, a resident of Dhalai Tea Garden area in the upazila.
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive at Dhalai Tea Garden along the Indian border in the afternoon and arrested him from his house with the liquor.
Kamalganj PS OC Shamim Akanji confirmed the matter, adding that the arrested was sent to the jail following a court order after filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with the PS.
PHULBARI, KURIGRAM: Police, in a drive, arrested three drug peddlers along with hemp from Phulbai Upazila in the district recently.
The arrested men are: Masud Rana, 22, a resident of Shimulbari area in Phulbari Upazila of Kurigram; Shadul Islam Forkai, 35, hailed from Natore District; and Sojib Mia, 23, a resident of Phulbari Upazila in Kurigram.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Shimulbari area of the upazila and arrested the trio. Then, the police recovered 1.5 kilograms of hemp from their possession.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Phulbari PS, the arrested persons were sent to the jail following a court order.
Phulbari PS OC Sanower Hossain confirmed the matter.
LALMOHAN, BHOLA: Police arrested a drug dealer red-handed while he was selling yaba tablets in Lalmohan Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested person is Md Al-Amin, 28, son of Md Jamal, a resident of Ward No. 3 under Lalmohan Municipality.
Police sources said that on information, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in Ward No. 6 Lengutia area under Charbhuta Union of the upazila, and detained Al-Amin red-handed while he was selling yaba tablets.
At that time, police recovered 47 yaba tablets from his possession.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Lalmohan PS, the arrested person was produced before the court.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Lalmohan PS Sheikh Taufik Ferdous Shovon confirmed the matter, adding that such drives will continue to keep the upazila free from drug abuse.
PATHARGHATA, BARGUNA: Police, in a drive, arrested two people including the president of Patharghata Upazila Shramik League from the upazila in the district recently.
The arrested persons are: Mostafizur Rahman Sohel, 42, president of Patharghata Upazila Shramik League and former panel mayor of the municipality; and Helal Kazi, 40, former union parishad member of Patharghata Sadar Union and son of Abdul Kalam Kazi of Sailatala area in the upazila.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the house of Mostafizur Rahman Sohel in Ward No. 6 area of Patharghata Municipal Town, and detained the duo along with 15 yaba tablets.
After filing of a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Patharghata PS, the arrested persons were sent to jail following a court order.

BAGATIPARA, NATORE: Members of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and Bangladesh Army, in a joint drive, arrested a man red-handed while he was consuming hemp in Bagatipara Upazila of the district recently.
The arrested person is Md Abdul Mannan, son of late Nabir Uddin, a resident of Chakharirampur Village in the upazila.
According to Bagatipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer's (UNO) office sources, acting on a tip-off, members of the DNC and Bangladesh Army jointly conducted a drive in Tamaltala area of the upazila, and detained Md Abdul Mannan red-handed while he was consuming drugs.
The team also recovered 10 grams of hemp from his possession at that time.
Later on, a mobile court led by Bagatipara UNO and Executive Magistrate Anamika Nazrul sentenced Abdul Mannan to one month of imprisonment.
