Former footballer Saifur Rahman Moni elected as the 15th executive member of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) after defeating Chudanga District Sports Association President Ekhlas Uddin in the BFF re-election held at BFF Bhaban on Saturday.

Moni bagged 56 votes against 51 collected by Ekhlas Uddin, chief election commissioner Mezbah Uddin Ahmed informed the pressmen at a press conference after the re-election.

The polls was held from 11 am to 1:00 pm where 107 out of 133 delegates exercised their voting right to elect the last member [15-member] of the BFF executive committee.

Two member candidates, Saifur Rahman Moni and Ekhlas Uddin, tied with 61 votes for the 15th member position during the initial BFF election held on October 26 last.

To break the tie between both the candidates, the BFF executive committee decided to hold a re-election in this post in their first meeting.

Moni, who contested the last two elections of the BFF, was found a smile of relief after winning the election.

'Finally, I won in the election after the fourth attempt and all this credit goes to my delegates ... I am really grateful to them," he said to the pressmen. He also expressed his high optimism to work for the development of football.    —BSS
