Five Mohila Awami League leaders arrested

Five leaders of Mohila Awami League have been arrested in a case filed over the attacks on Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at Pallabi in the capital.

They were arrested conducting raids on Friday night.
The arrested were Pallabi Thana's Ward No. 6 Mohila Awami League general secretary Sabina Yasmin Juthi, organizing secretary Rita Aktere, vice-president Nazma Akter Sathi, assistant organizing secretary Khadija Begum and ward Mohila Awami League leader Bably Begum.

Pallabi Police Station sources said in the afternoon of August 4 last, student Md Abid joined the movement along with students and people in front of Popular-2 Diagnostic Centre at Mirpur Section 10. Leaders of different levels of Awami League and its front organisations launched attacks on students and people with local arms and pistols. At that time, Abid was seriously injured when a bullet hit on his right eye. He was given treatment at the National Opthalmogy Institute and Hospital.

In connection with the incident, the injured Abid's brother Jinnat Saidee filed a case with Pallabi Police Station on November 12. After examining CCTV footage, police arrested Sabina Yasmin Juthi, Rita Akter, Nazma Akter Sathi and Khadija Begum with the help of information technology.
