A protest rally was held in Savar-Ashulia today (Friday) , where local students, residents, and mosque goers demonstrated against the activities of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Bangladesh.
The protest saw the participation of thousands of students, residents, and mosque attendees who demanded the organization be banned and execution of Chinmoy Das, in connection with the murder of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif.
According to sources, after the Jummah prayers, several groups of protesters, including locals, students, and mosque attendees, from different mosques in Ashulia gathered in Baipail. They marched in protest, holding placards and shouting slogans against ISKCON. Many participants also expressed outrage at the recent incident in Chattogram, where a mosque was reportedly vandalized by ISKCON members.
Protesters demanded that all those involved in the killing of Saiful Islam Alif be brought to justice. They also labeled ISKCON as a 'terrorist organization', stating that it has been involved in actions that hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims and pose a threat to the peace and stability of the country. Protesters made it clear that ISKCON should be banned in Bangladesh and should not be allowed to operate in the country.
In addition, the protesters condemned the activities of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Das and demanded his execution for his alleged involvement in the murder.
Speakers at the rally emphasized that the protesters were not against the Hindu community or the Sanatan Religion but were standing up against extremist organizations like ISKCON. They called for unity among all religious communities to ensure the peace and harmony of the country, urging Hindu citizens to join in opposing such extremist groups for the well-being of Bangladesh.
In the rally, protesters also voiced their strong opposition to what they described as 'Indian aggression', accusing ISKCON of creating religious tension and attempting to divide the Bengali nation. They asserted that the organization's actions were an attempt to undermine the nation's unity, and they firmly condemned such efforts.
