A minor child drowned in water near a brick kiln at Porsha upazila in Nagaon district on Thursday afternoon.

Abu Talha, 5, was son of Jasim Uddin from Nitpur West Diyarapara area in the upazila.

According to family sources, Jasim Uddin took his young son to work at a nearby brick kiln. While there, the child accidentally fell into a water reservoir at the kiln without anyone noticing.

Later in the evening, another worker discovered Talha's body floating while washing his hands in the reservoir. His body was retrieved from the water shortly after.

Porsha Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shahin Reza confirmed the incident.
