Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali on Thursday directed all police stations under his jurisdiction to brighten the image of police force in deeds.
"Police stations are hubs of police services. Officers-in-charges (OC's) of all police stations under the DMP have to work and provide proper services to the people for brightening the image of the police force," he said.
He said this while exchanging views with OCs of 50 DMP police stations at the conference room of DMP headquarters in the city on Thursday.
The DMP Commissioner said the OCs of the police stations must work responsibly so that the service seekers coming to the police stations get the services they expect.
"You are the ones who take legal actions. All police activities are police station centric. You have a lot of responsibilities. You have to discharge your responsibilities properly," he said.
The police's image has been tarnished due to some ambitious police officials in the past, he said.
"You have to discharge your responsibilities in such a way that no complaint comes to me against anyone of you. I do not want to take action against anyone. But if any complaint comes, there will be no concession," he warned.
The DMP Commissioner said the police have to earn the trust of the people by serving them through good behaviour.
Stressing the importance of increasing the relationship between the police and the people, he said, the more relationship you build with the people, the more information you will get. "If you get more information, you can take action against crimes," he opined. He also ordered to settle the cases through proper and fair investigation.
The DMP Commissioner has given a patient hearing to the OCs about the various problems and challenges in conducting police activities and assured them of solving them in phases.
Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Faruk Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md Shawkat Ali, concerned Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners and Officers-in-Charge of all DMP police stations were present in the meeting.
