KHULNA, Nov 28: The Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) authorities suspended five teachers, six officers and an employee on charge of different allegations including controversial roles during the July Uprising.
The decision was taken at the 94th syndicate meeting of KUET on November 21 with KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Masud in the chair.
The suspended teachers are former KUET Vice-Chancellor and incumbent Prof of Mechanical Engineering Mihir Ranjon Halder, former Vice-Chancellor and incumbent Prof of Civil Engineering Muhammad Alamgir, former Pro-Vice Chancellor and incumbent Prof of Physics Shibendra Shekhar Shikder, former Pro-Vice Chancellor and incumbent Prof of Mechanical Engineering Sobhan Mia and Prof of Computer Science Pintu Chandra Shil.
Besides, the KUET authorities suspended six officers and one employee for being appointed to their posts illegally.
They are Deputy Registrars Nimai Chandra Mistry and Debashish Mondal, Assistant Director of the Public and Information Section Monoj Kumar Majumdar, Assistant Controller GM Abu Sayeed, Assistant Programmer Md Omor Faruk, Assistant Technical Officer Md Mehedi Hasan Rajon and Office Assistant Sattyjit Kumar Dutta.
The Syndicate took the decision upon receiving primary probe report against them, KUET Registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan confirmed the Daily Observer.
Registrar Anis said the suspended teachers, officers and employee were found guilty of suppressing students in July and early August by using political influence.
